Hos 2:19–20 NLT 19 You will become my wife for all time as I treat you with fairness, righteousness, and unwavering affection. 20 You will ultimately come to know me as the LORD because I will be obedient to you and claim you as my own.
God occasionally uses marriage, the most intimate bond between two human adults, to represent His connection with His people.
The Lord is attempting to explain to us His feelings by way of this illustration: His intense love for His people and the suffering brought on by their disloyalty and lack of love for Him.
The Lord has gently taught me how I was also treating Him in the same way whenever I have been tempted to grumble about how my wife treats me. For instance, I would recognise that I had been treating the Lord the same way if I felt that she was not paying enough attention to me. (My wife is amazing, but like every relationship, ours has had to develop.)
What a wonderful technique the Lord uses to explain things and instruct us!
God is a living being, just like you are. God is an individual. More than you, he does not appreciate being disregarded, mistreated, or insulted. For our benefit, God always follows His Word and is not influenced by His emotions.God has already taken the initiative and is now waiting for our response. He put his love for us first and showed it at Calvary.
Naturally, the devil, the father of lies, makes every effort to convince us that God doesn’t care and isn’t deserving of our love. Such a falsehood!
Speak This: I will not let God down because He wants a deep relationship with me.
